Visits can only take place from the 09/12/2024 to the 24/03/2025
Please read the following summary of the conditions and rules for LHCb underground visits before submitting a request using the link at the bottom of the page.
- Visits of LHCb underground areas must be given by trained and authorised guides.
– Details on how to become an LHCb guide can be found HERE.
– Guides must have valid access rights for the LHCb cavern (safety courses, access request, personal dosimeter with biometry).
– During a visit, guides must wear safety shoes, safety helmet and their personal dosimeter, and must carry a mobile phone with them (phone number to be entered in the IMPACT form). - For each underground visit, an IMPACT form is prepared by the secretariat which needs to be approved by the LHCb Technical Coordination team prior to the visit.
– Visits can be cancelled at short notice for operational or safety reasons.
– After the visit, the visit organiser should a comment in the IMPACT form and close the IMPACT. - The number of visitors per guide must not exceed 12.
– Additional restrictions apply if minors are present (see here for details).
– No more than two groups of visitors can be underground at the same time. - A reminder of the safety measures for visitors can be found HERE.
– Visitors must be fit to climb stairways.
– People with active implantable medical devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, etc.) and children under the age of 10 cannot participate in underground visits.
– During the underground visit, visitors must wear hard hats (available in the Point 8 surface exhibition) and closed shoes.
